Job Opportunities for UCI Graduates
The recent demands for private university and colleges graduates are bright and employment opportunities for them are on the increase. As such, it not surprising that over 96.5% of UCI undergraduate and postgraduate students are employed within the first 6 months upon their graduation.
In anticipation of the better economic growth in the region, many Malaysian firms are planning to increase their employee’s recruitment with the highest demands coming from finance, service and manufacturing sectors, according to the survey by the Economic Planning Unit, the Prime Minister Department. The number of graduates hired by private companies and public sector organisations grew by more than 7 per cent in 2006 and it is all set to rise by another 6 per cent in 2008.
The UCI Graduates Employability Study found that at least a third of employers felt graduates today lacked skills such as English and Marketing, especially business awareness. Despite the fact that over 60,000 graduates especially from the public institutions were unemployed in 2005, UCI graduates were not among the statistics.
UCI graduates found employment mainly in banking, finance, real estate, construction, marine, engineering, architectural firms. Many of UCI previous graduates have not only been given good positions but also good starting salary in local and international organizations.
UCI postgraduate students especially its MBA graduates are in high demand not only locally but also internationally. Many have found employment with top multinational companies with diverse business activities ranging from oil and gas to finance to services sectors, while several graduates have opted to become successful entrepreneurs employing tens and in some cases, hundreds of employees in their organizations.
The study also found that nearly 80 per cent of UCI undergraduate students receiving scholarships were absorbed by the respective sponsors.
